Week 7 LHSAA Power Ratings

Welcome to my blog. Since it is almost playoff time and the LHSAA uses power ratings to determine who makes the playoffs, I have compiled the power ratings for schools in Iberia, Lafayette, Vermillion, and St. Martin Parishes. I will begin with my overall area rankings based on the power ratings.
  1. 12.77 Jeanerette (6-1)
  2. 12.68 Gueydan (6-1)
  3. 11.84 Acadiana (5-2)
  4. 11.25 Loreauville (5-2)
  5. 10.96 North Vermillion (5-2)
  6. 10.94 Westgate (5-2)
  7. 10.92 New Iberia (6-1)
  8. 10.60 Catholic-NI (4-3)
  9. 10.48 Comeaux (4-3)
  10. 10.32 St Thomas More (4-3)
  11. 10.07 Vermillion Catholic (3-4)
  12. 9.71 Breaux Bridge (4-3)
  13. 9.68 Kaplan (6-1)
  14. 9..53 Delcambre (4-3)
  15. 8.98 Cecilia (4-3)
  16. 8.96 Teurlings (3-4)
  17. 8.36 Erath (3-4)
  18. 8.00 Abbeville (1-6)
  19. 7.93 Carencro (1-5)
  20. 7.87 Lafayette (2-5)
  21. 7.00 Ascension Episcopal (2-4)
  22. 6.35 St Martinville (2-5)
  23. 5.89 Beau Chene (2-5)

Now, let's looks at who has the best chances of making the playoffs and who doesn't. Of course, the playoff races are wide open and district champions can sometimes throw a wrench into these ratings. So here goes, last week the LHSAA published the unofficial power ratings after week 6 that showed every teams rating. Based on those ratings, I will guess as to who has the best chance to make the playoffs.

GOOD CHANCE

Acadiana, Westgate, New Iberia, Breaux Bridge, North Vermillion, Catholic-NI, Jeanerette, Loreauville, Gueydan, Vermillion Catholic

WORK TO DO

Comeaux, St Thomas More, Cecilia, Teurlings, Kaplan, Erath, Abbeville, Delcambre, Ascension Episcopal

NO CHANCE

Carencro, Lafayette, St Martinville, Beau Chene

As you can see, almost every team is still in the hunt for a playoff birth. Let me know what you think by leaving a comment.
